Interviews - Catch up with David
Catch up with David (October 2004, (c) DG Resource)

To catch up with what was happening with David, he was kind enough to offer to answer some more questions for the site. Here they are!

What made you decide to return as a regular cast member for the 9th season of 7th Heaven?
I am returning to the show this year for twelve episodes (so far, possibly more if they work it out) because they are accommodating my schooling.

Did you have any influence over Simon's new bad boy image since this was the type of role you were wanting?
I like to think that I influenced the new bad boy thing but I can't say for sure. I'm happy about it either way.

Is it still a challenge to play the character of Simon, or do you feel after eight years you're completely comfortable in the role?
The character has never really been a challenge for me. I have been working harder in the past two years to try and flesh him out in a more 3 dimensional light. I try to add quirks to him in scenes and things like that.

Did you work on any film projects over the summer?
I filmed an indie [independent] movie over the break called Sunday Morning where I worked with a very good friend of mine, actor Joel Michaely. We play the comic relief in the film. The movie is about an atomic war in the US and we have to do something with the last few hours of our lives. It's a comedy. Joel and I play some stoners who deal by smoking themselves retarded! I'm going to film the movie Dot for a week very soon in Austin, Texas. I've managed to somehow work it between school and 7th Heaven and I am very excited about it. Joel Michaely is a producer on it. I play Brian, Sean Ashmore's best friend. I'm also working with another one of my best friends Shannon Woodward, who I've known for about three years. We are not dating, though we do enjoy laughing at the rumors.

Would you consider stage acting again?
I would do stage work in a second if I could. The stage is an amazing experience.

What is it like to see yourself in a magazine or on tv?
When I see myself in mags, I usually laugh at myself, they always put things out of context in boldface and stuff like that. I will be in the December-January issue of Teen People as the celebrity crush, I did the photo shoot a few weeks ago. I am used to seeing myself on tv though.

Have you heard anymore about possibly voicing for Kingdom Hearts 2?
I had thought that Kingdom Hearts 2 would go on without me but I recently got the phone call and the deal for my part as Riku in KH2 is in the works, as well as possibly working on other games.

Are there any actors you would really like to work with? Which of the actors you have worked with has taught you the most in regards to the business?
I've had nothing but good experiences with co-actors on the sets in my past. I consider myself lucky because I hear horror stories like the rest of the world about difficult actors. I love the cast of 7th they are all great.
