Interviews - Back-Stage-Pass
Spotlight: Teen People (From the Teen People Function in February 2003, Back-Stage-Pass)

BSP: Hi David, how are you doing?
DG: Good! I'm good, this is all great.

BSP: Yeah it is! So, how do you feel about accepting an award like this?
DG: I think, out of everybody they all deserve it. I, I'm flattered and honored in every way that they even want to put me in this. It's very important to me - the charity that I work with is and my little brother is autistic. He was diagnosed when he was three, he's six years old now and he's doing amazing and for me to help the organization uh, is enough of an honor for me and then to be recognized for my work is incredible.

BSP: That's awesome. How has working on the show made life change for you?
DG: Um, it's in a lot of ways it's really brought me out. I'd been working ten years before I even did "7th Heaven" so, but I wasn't a day in, day out face for a lot of people and the show has brought me to that level. For the fans of the show now anyway. So it's incredible the recognition I get from it. I go out and the people that I run into, it's somethin else.

BSP: Can you remember some of the first experiences you had working?
DG: Ever? Well, my first acting experiences were before I was able to talk so.... no. [laughs] Um, I did, I started off in print when I was a baby and I moved into commercials when I was four, then I moved into movie of the weeks, and I did my first feature film when I was 8, and I was still doing the M.O.W.s and pictures for a while, then I did Broadway in Manhattan, and then I moved to L.A. and I've been doing the show for seven years!

BSP: Wow.
DG: Yeah, yeah it's been quite amazing.

BSP: Do you play music?
DG: Music! I'd love to do music actually. Actually I'm the kind of person who really loves the recording and entertaining industry itself, I'll be doing everything. So uh, I'm acting, I've already written my own screenplay with my room-mate Doug; we wrote a screenplay so I guess that makes me a writer, and actor, and a producer because I'll produce that picture. And I'm also going to college for directing and going into... I, well as far as music is concerned, I'm vocally challenged hahaha sort of, so I'd rather be behind the scenes and produce music and I'm looking into making a demo for that. I have a couple friends of mine who I think are talented musicians and I play guitar so I'd rather make the music and have somebody else be on the track so I'm looking into everything!

BSP: Well thank you so much for taking the time to come over and talk to us, I know it's crazy around here.
DG: Oh no problem thank you for talking to me! And have a great time here it should be a great show.
